Wtf do those racist tradwives wanna cook for their alt right chudsbands? Boiled millet? Just meat and salt? Because have fun not using spices or rice or tomatoes or potatoes or corn or so so so much else when you’re recreating your never existent medieval Europe.

Ngl I mostly posted this cause the portmanteau “chudsband” occurred to me and I thought it was hilarious.

God those October fifteenth general strike assholes.

Hey, I’m not like some official organizer or anything but I did take part and help organize three different marches on the boss earlier in the year that got me and my coworkers a raise, and here’s some of the stuff we did BEFORE announcing it.

  • Made sure the majority of our coworkers supported it.
  • New who didn’t.
  • Had plans for if it failed.
  • Made sure that everyone directly involved was okay with being physically removed and possibly fired.
  • Made sure if we were fired everyone involved could support themselves and any dependents.

And that was for a march on the boss. A strike takes way fucking more prep. Which is why you work in a union. I get it, some of us radical leftists don’t think the IWW is far left enough, let alone union like SEIU which helped me. But there’s a goddamn reason for them, and a reason you cannot just do this on a whim.

really wish yall would talk about the transphobia that trans men face WITHOUT being ridiculously transmisogynistic about it

peetbools

we could be talking about how trans men are routinely treated like we have the fucking plague by cis mlm or the fact that people whine about us going on T because we're "turning ourselves ugly" or how many cis men fantasize about forcing us to detransition but no yall would rather focus on that one time a trans woman called you a "t-bro" for speaking over her or how trans women totally arent as oppressed as us because they have *insert transmisogynistic caricature here* as representation

peetbools

and if we're gonna have this conversation we also need to acknowledge that we, as trans men, do in fact benefit from transmisogyny and oppress trans women. like that's absolutely not something that's up for debate

i consider transmasc nb people to be in the same category as trans men. we're all transmascs, i probably should've used that word instead of "trans men" but this was really just a vent post i put very little thought into, i wasn't expecting it to get notes.

anyway, im tme and dont feel comfortable speaking as an authority on transmisogyny but I'll try to find some posts by trans women on the subject

peetbools

here's a carrd i found

it links to several posts made by trans women about transmisogyny and being trans and tme vs tma

hope that helps, anyone is welcome to add on though

punkypoodle

part of the reason so many resources online r specifically for transmascs is bc trans women r not considered or welcome in many spaces online, and this reinforces itself

most of the trans groups and spaces ive been to irl are almost overwhelmingly made up of and led by tme ppl unless it’s specifically a group for transfems or started as one

when ppl think of “bad” trans people they think of trans women, and same with jokes abt trans ppl; its almost always “men in dresses” or “men sneaking into women’s spaces by saying theyre women” or “r*pists and p*dophiles making themselves seem less dangerous by claiming to be women” etc it’s almost rarely fearmongering abt transmascs (tho in rare cases ppl will make jokes abt transmascs and yes, these suck too. but they are FAR less common bc the low hanging fruit everyone easily understands for a joke is “haha big ugly man in dress lol” so thats what ppl go for)

transmascs benefit from flying under the radar more easily while society (and individual members) pick on trans women, who are hypervisible (which is a BAD thing). ive had transmasc friends tell me how they experience more misgendering and hate speech in general when they’re with me, than they do when they’re alone—and yea, many of these “friends” no longer spent time with me after this happened.

i know its not easy to accept the idea that you, despite being trans, benefit from the ways in which our society fucks over trans women, but its the case. really, and this might make it seem more simple than it has been so far—if you are not being targeted/affected by an institutional, systemic oppression, then broadly *you do in fact benefit from that systemic oppression. straight ppl benefit from homophobia, cis ppl benefit from transphobia, etc.

and yes—closeted trans ppl experience transphobia (and closeted trans women experience transmisogyny!) for instance, bc being targeted by systemic oppression is not done on the individual level of ppl’s motivations and perceptions. and similarly to that, just bc you dont intend to target someone for being a trans woman doesn’t change the fact that you do in fact benefit, in a broad sense, from her oppression.

on this note: this is pretty much the case for any institutional oppression; abled ppl benefit from the suffering of disabled ppl, and white ppl (to be clear im white) benefit from racism. trying to run away from recognizing that we benefit from something godawful doesnt solve shit, and only serves to make ourselves feel better. dont fall into that trap

laeg vs tam lin in the battle for “most fuckable twink in celtic myth”

100percentdirtball

like okay right before the torque takes cuchulainn and he does the sixfold slaughter, this is what laeg puts on: “a skin-soft tunic of stitched deer’s leather, light as a breath, kneaded supple and smooth not to hinder his free arm movements. he put on over this his feathery mantle, made by simon magus for darius, king of the romans, and given by darius to conchobor, and by conchobor to cuchulainn, and by cuchulainn to [laeg]. then [he] set down on his shoulders his plated, four-pointed, crested battle-cap, rich in colour and shape; it suited him well and was no burden. to set him apart from his master, he placed the charioteer’s sign on his brow with his hand: a circle of deep yellow like a single red-gold strip of burning gold shaped on an anvil’s edge.”

my boy is wearing supple and smooth leather—light as a breath—a fringe-y top his boyfriend gave him, and he knows how to accessorize. a circle like burning gold? you know his battle-cap is richly colored!!

laeg really was like “my boyfriend is about to turn into the hulk and kill 180 chiefs, 130 kings, and an uncountable number of men, dogs, and horses. time to put on my sexiest mantle and be the most breedable charioteer at this massacre”

Will people permit me to ramble about Henry Darger and what it means to make art for other people vs ourselves for a moment?

thefiresontheheight

JK this is tumblr.

Okay, so Henry Darger was a my all accounts reclusive, traumatized man who lived in Chicago, and worked as a custodian until his death in 1973. He is also the author of The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What Is Known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion, a 15,000 pages plus manuscript, with full watercolor illustrations telling the story of the seven princesses of a fictional nation who start a rebellion against tyrannical child-slave owning foreign kings.

I am thinking of him because if I am letting people, and, indeed, asking people, begging people, to beta read my novel. I am asking because I want to try to get this novel, or if not it a subsequent novel, published. In other words I am doing it because my novel is meant to be consumed by others.

And I think some people can think that is an inherently a bad thing. AAA video games are made for consumption. Marvel movies, rom-coms, etc. And I think we can vilify that, sometimes. We can say that making a thing for other people necessarily makes it worse. That art is only “pure” if made solely for the sake of making it.

And I don’t think that’s true. This is not a defense of AAA video games, or Disney, or anything. I think that the production of art as commodity can and does devalue some pieces of media. But I think if Marvel is at one end of a spectrum, and Henry Darger is on the other, we can stray too far in the latter direction.

Because at the end of the day his novel is about the most “pure” a work can be. It was discovered after his death, and never meant for anyone to read. And it’s also to be fair, not an appealing read. It is 15,145 pages of Christian, specifically Catholic, children rising up in extremely bloody and violent war against their godless enemies, interrupted by graphic and disturbing watercolors. It is extremely unpleasant, and I would be hard pressed to think of a better example of making art solely for it’s own sake.

This is neither an attack on mass media, or Henry Darger. I think both extremes have value. I don’t know, I guess I am saying that valuable and beautiful art can be found in a piece of media made for broader consumption, and that that. Neither is it a perfect defense to say art was made entirely for yourself. Art is a conversation, which necessitates it involving multiple people. Otherwise no one would now know, or have opinions of The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What Is Known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion.

pardon me if my words seem rambling or opaque
