part of the reason so many resources online r specifically for transmascs is bc trans women r not considered or welcome in many spaces online, and this reinforces itself
most of the trans groups and spaces ive been to irl are almost overwhelmingly made up of and led by tme ppl unless it’s specifically a group for transfems or started as one
when ppl think of “bad” trans people they think of trans women, and same with jokes abt trans ppl; its almost always “men in dresses” or “men sneaking into women’s spaces by saying theyre women” or “r*pists and p*dophiles making themselves seem less dangerous by claiming to be women” etc it’s almost rarely fearmongering abt transmascs (tho in rare cases ppl will make jokes abt transmascs and yes, these suck too. but they are FAR less common bc the low hanging fruit everyone easily understands for a joke is “haha big ugly man in dress lol” so thats what ppl go for)
transmascs benefit from flying under the radar more easily while society (and individual members) pick on trans women, who are hypervisible (which is a BAD thing). ive had transmasc friends tell me how they experience more misgendering and hate speech in general when they’re with me, than they do when they’re alone—and yea, many of these “friends” no longer spent time with me after this happened.
i know its not easy to accept the idea that you, despite being trans, benefit from the ways in which our society fucks over trans women, but its the case. really, and this might make it seem more simple than it has been so far—if you are not being targeted/affected by an institutional, systemic oppression, then broadly *you do in fact benefit from that systemic oppression. straight ppl benefit from homophobia, cis ppl benefit from transphobia, etc.
and yes—closeted trans ppl experience transphobia (and closeted trans women experience transmisogyny!) for instance, bc being targeted by systemic oppression is not done on the individual level of ppl’s motivations and perceptions. and similarly to that, just bc you dont intend to target someone for being a trans woman doesn’t change the fact that you do in fact benefit, in a broad sense, from her oppression.
on this note: this is pretty much the case for any institutional oppression; abled ppl benefit from the suffering of disabled ppl, and white ppl (to be clear im white) benefit from racism. trying to run away from recognizing that we benefit from something godawful doesnt solve shit, and only serves to make ourselves feel better. dont fall into that trap
